Transmission & drivetrain Vehicle recall #06V341000 · 2006 · 4,770 vehicles
What's wrong: On certain passenger and sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks equipped with automatic transmissions, the software programmed into the powertrain control module can cause a momentary lock up of the drive wheels if the vehicle is traveling over 40 mph and the operator shifts from drive to neutral and back to drive.
Why it matters: If the drive wheels locked up, loss of vehicle control could occur increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module free of charge. The recall began on October 2, 2006.
Steering Vehicle recall #06V386000 · 2006 · 6,644 vehicles
What's wrong: On certain vehicles, the right front steering knuckle May have been improperly manufactured. Because of a broken cooling line, parts cast in tool cavity #63 on July 18 and July 19, 2006, May have a cold shut condition and could fracture.
Why it matters: This could cause a loss of steering control and result in a crash without warning.
The fix: Dealers will inspect the recalled vehicles to identify the defective parts and replace if they are within that lot. The recall began on November 8, 2006.
